Setting Up Your Media Player
Just received your Media Player? This article takes you through the entire setup step-by-step.
What’s in the box?
In the box, you should have:
- Media Player
- Power Adapter
- Antenna
- HDMI Cable
- Remote Control
Turning On Your Media Player
Plug your Power Cable into a mains power slot, and then into your Media Player via the DC Input (circular port at the back of your media player).
Plug one end of the HDMI Cable into the Media Player’s HDMI port, and the other end into a HDMI port of the screen that you want to showcase your signage (please make a note of the HDMI channel you will be using, e.g. HDMI1 or HDMI2).
If you are using a wireless WiFi connection, screw on the WiFi antenna onto the gold slot on the side of the Media Player. If you are using a wired WiFi connection, you will not need the WiFi antenna. Instead, plug one end of an Ethernet cable into the Media Player, and the other into your network port (i.e. your WiFi router).
Your Media Player should now be turned on, which will be indicated by a blue light on the front. If this light doesn’t come on immediately, don’t worry. Power on your Media Player via the Power button on the side.
Turn on your screen, which should be displaying the home page of your Media Player. If it isn’t, ensure your screen is on the HDMI channel that corresponds with the port you plugged in your HDMI cable (e.g. HDMI2).
Connecting Your Media Player to WiFi
If you’re not using ethernet, ensuring a strong WiFi connection is critical. Without a WiFi connection, you’ll be unable to update the content displayed on your screen.
To connect to WiFi, you are going to need a Mouse and Keyboard. Simply plug them into the Media Player USB ports and follow the steps below.
Using your mouse, open Settings (this will be found on the home page).
Select ‘Network’ from the Settings menu.
Select the WiFi network you want your Media Player to connect to (ensure a strong connection!).
Using your keyboard, input the password and press connect.
If the password is correct, you will be directed back to the network list, where you will see ‘connected’ in green text below your chosen network. If this is the case, you are good to go!
Opening the Signage App
The final step is to open the signage app, which will display the content you assign on the TrouDigital Platform. To do this, head to the apps list on the Media Player (the icon is blue screen with a white play icon in the middle).
